What is Independent Advocacy?
Sometimes it can be hard to find out about what help is available and to speak up for what you want.
SYCIL’S Independent Advocacy Service can help you to:
- Find out about your choices
- Speak up for what you want for yourself
- Make sure your voice is heard
Do you find it hard to:
- Write letters, or understand and complete some forms (Please note we do not do benefits forms, but can refer you for help with this)?
- Find out how to access local services?
- Speak up at meetings and appointments e.g. care reviews or meetings with social workers?
- Find and understand the information you need?
Are You:
- Over 50 years old, with a long term health condition?
- A Disabled person of any age?
- Deaf or hard of hearing, or blind or partially sighted?
- Do you have a long term health condition which affects your daily life and opportunities?
If the answer to any of these questions is Yes, then contact Helen Butler, ENABLE’s Advocacy Worker to find out more about how advocacy could help you.
Our independent advocacy service covers the whole of Doncaster, and we can see you wherever is most convenient for you, including at:
- The Disability Resource Centre
- a community centre near where you live
- home, including a residential or nursing home
- in hospital
